SALUTE TO VIENNA

Peter Guth collaborated a number of times with “Salute to Vienna”, the annual New Year’s concert series since 1995 presented by Attila Glatz Concert Productions  in many music centres of the USA and Canada.

With various American orchestras, ballet companies and vocal soloists he has had extraordinary success in the New York Lincoln Center, the Philadelphia Verizon Hall, in the Los Angeles Disney Concert HallSan Diego Copley Symphony Hall and in concert halls in Florida.

Attila Glatz has produced two major TV galas in Vienna as video commercials and publicity for his American events and both times he had entrusted Peter Guth as artistic director and conductor with the compilation of the programmes.

The first "Salute to Vienna" Gala in Vienna on September 20th in the Johann Strauss Memorial Year 1999 was recorded and broadcasted by the ORF in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein under the TV-direction of Sir Humphrey Burton, the eminent producer for Leonard Bernstein, Karajan and other great musicians.

The legendary film star Gregory Peck led through the programme as host and reciter.

The Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna  has played, several famous singers, the Vienna Boys Choir and the Boys Choir of Harlem took part. On this memorable evening Guth was allowed to play on the original Amati violin by Johann Strauss, which was provided by the Wien Museum.

The "Salute to Vienna" Gala, organised for the second time in Vienna by Attila Glatz on April 25th 2013, was recorded for PBS Television, the American network. This time it took place in the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus, with the Symphony Orchestra of the Wiener Volksoper and the Vienna State Opera Ballet Association.
